GPSS is spread with the sprawling of seven-acre ecological sound of Eco Park at Alagumalai village, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, with abundant green cover of 1000 of trees against the backdrop of adjutant hillock, nurturing the respect for nature and environment right from a young age. The serene atmosphere of Eco Park will have a positive impact on the development and growth of children. The GPSS within Eco Park campus is powered by renewable solar energy for consumption of electricity, system of rain water harvesting for ground water recharge, biogas, vermin compost manure for organic gardening. It also has bird's sanctuary where children can visit and amuse by playing.
The classrooms are well ventilated, spacious, equipped with child friendly furniture. Children can breathe the unpolluted fresh air even while in class, as the campus is full of trees and green cover. The school has all the equipment required to foster curiosity, imagination and hands-on learning, which includes a well-equipped computer lab, science lab and maths lab, smart classrooms with internet connectivity. We also give the arena of sports high priority and importance, recognising fully that children need to cultivate their athletic interest, sports talent and adventure in day-to-day life. GPSS provides facilities for athletic track, football, volleyball, throw ball, handball, tennis, cricket, kho-kho, kabbadi, and so on.
In GPSS, we do recognise that every child has a different pace and approach in learnings. We give every due care that any student falls behind in his/her work, he/she will be consulted, encouraged and counselled. The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) Scheme under the CBSE curriculum is a process that provide holistic development for the learner through regular assessments in the scholastic and co-scholastic domains. Self-evaluation plays an integral part of the teaching and learning process. It focuses on all-round personality development and also envisages improving gaps and offering corrective and enriched inputs.
Tiruppur is home to a large number of migrant families due to employment in textile and garment, they are from the north and north-eastern states of India. The children coming from these families do not have access to school education in their mother tongue, as they neither know English nor Tamil (the vernacular), whereas the medium of instruction in all the schools located within the district is in Tamil or in English. This is a huge stumbling block for their successful completion of education. As part of its social responsibility, GPSS specifically focuses to impart education to these children in their own mother tongue to the best extent possible. We ensure that they do not get excluded and complete their education with all the required skills to fulfil their ambitions.
